🜨 Fractal Detail Lab
Single-image, self-similar detail synthesis. Load a painting/photo, drag a box on any area, and compare a plain upscale against fractal detail drawn from the image's own multi-scale texture. Nothing leaves your browser.
2 · Focus & zoom. Click a spot to center, then drive the magnification dial (or drag a box)
The Fractal detail panel = the smooth (bicubic) upscale plus high-frequency texture sampled from the painting's own structure across several scales, concentrated where there's form (edges/brushwork). It synthesizes plausible detail. It does not recover lost data. The intricacy is consistent with the image's own grammar, not imported.
3 · Compare (same zoom, same display size)
Bicubic · standard upscale (smooth/soft)
Fractal detail · self-similar synthesis
Watch the middle vs. right: bicubic goes soft; the fractal panel grows brushstroke-scale intricacy along the forms. Push Vitality up to see it appear (too high → it reads as texture, the honest failure mode).
